Basic Jail Training Supervisor: Al Osano
Al Osano was formerly with Middle River Regional Jail and joined the Academy team in February 2009. Al is responsible for the Basic Jail Officer training program. Al is a certified Instructor for: Driving, Defensive Tactics, Firearms, Pepper Ball, OC, MILO, and Impact Munitions. Al has proven to be a valuable asset to the Academy.

Law Enforcement In-Service Training Supervisor : Renee B. Meador
( Also Basic Emergency Communications Officer and Basic Animal Control Training Supervisor )
Retired from Roanoke City Police Department / Emergency Communications Center in May 2004 with 28 years of service, Renee’s formal education includes Administration of Justice and Behavioral Science. She is the Co-Director of Virginia Law Enforcement Critical Incident Stress Management (VA LE CISM) along with Major John H. Collier of Prince William County Sheriff’s Office, and is the Mid-East Regional Director / Instructor & sits on the Executive Board for the National Police Suicide Foundation. Renee speaks to families and agencies all over the country on the topic of Peer Support and Police Suicide.
In 2006, Renee became active with OJJDP / NCMEC / Fox Valley Technical College Law Enforcement Division with the AMBER Initiative program, and recently completed NCMEC's Unit Commander School for Protecting Children Online ( Internet Crimes Against Children ). Renee is Co-Commander of the newly developed Internet Child Predator Initiative along with Darryl Wells of Stafford County Sheriff's Office.
In 2009, Renee became an active member of ILEETA.
Renee is responsible for the Law Enforcement In-Service training of approximately 2,000 member agency officers, as well as all Telecommunicators training, including both Basic ECO and Communications In-Service classes. Renee also instructs and manages the Basic Animal Control Officer certification.

Online Training Supervisor: Joe Woodson
Mr. Woodson is an officer with the Albemarle-Charlottesville-Nelson Regional Jail. He has been with the jail for the past six years and with the Academy since the summer of 2005. Mr. Woodson was the Virginia Association of Regional Jails Jail Officer of the Year in 2005 and was awarded the Medal of Valor by his agency in that same year. Mr. Woodson is currently assigned to the Academy to assist as a Training Supervisor, and manages the Online Training divsion. (2-10-09 )

Curriculum Specialist: Kelly Ohler
Mrs. Ohler has served as the Academy's Curriculum Specialist since August 2007. She is responsible for performing curriculum management and testing associated with all entry level students. In addition, she ensures that all lesson plans and testing materials are in compliance with both state and Academy directives.
Mrs. Ohler is a graduate of Seton Hill University, Greensburg, PA, where she earned a Bachelor's of Arts degree in Instructional Design/Communications with a concentration in curriculum development.

Records and Registration: Sharon James
A 1975 graduate of Buffalo Gap High School, a 1976 graduate of Elizabeth Brant School of Business with a secretarial degree, Ms. James has been with the Academy since March of 2005 bringing 18 years of experience with her. Ms. James manages all student files and all In-Service registrations.

Receptionist: Lindsay Whitesell
The Academy has one full-time receptionist position. The newest addition to our family is Lindsay Whitesell. Lindsay graduated from Blue Ridge Community College in 2006 with an Associate's Degree in Business Management. In 2007, Lindsay graduated from Blue Ridge Community College with 5 certificates.
Lindsay, who is stationed at the front desk, is currently responsible for all incoming calls for Academy staff, signing in visitors,assigning and managing all dorm rooms, and directing all guests to the proper resources within the Academy, among a multitude of other tasks.
