Virginia Telecommunicators CISM Team ( VATC CISM )
Sponsored by Virginia Law Enforcement CISM and Western VA CISM Team
9-1-1 Dispatchers have united from all over the State of Virginia to provide CISM services to 9-1-1 personnel. Members have been certified by OEMS, VA LE CISM, or ICISF as debriefers.
This team is not intended to replace any existing services already in place, including EAPs, HR offices, or the regional CISM teams under the OEMS. This team is specifically to fill the void where services have not been made available or utilized previously, so that Dispatchers are included in this process and not forgotten. This is a sub-team that was developed, staffed and managed by Dispatchers and EOC's.
Any Center or Comm Center personnel, whether as a group or individually, who would like CISM services, this Team is here to provide those services. This team is all about Dispatchers taking care of Dispatchers.
All of our Team members are volunteers. Each member has agreed to cover areas within a certain scope of mileage from their home agency. We will make every attempt to have personnel available to you from your area of request, unless you request otherwise.
If you are interested in becoming a Team member, please contact Renee Meador, at the Academy, at 540-234-9191, ext 7, -or-email: rmeador@centralshenandoahacademy.com. After hours and weekends: 540-309-0711.
Requests for ACTIVATION
Our promise to Dispatchers is this: once you make a call to request services, we will make every effort to return your call within 1 hour to work out details for your debriefing or defusing. ANY Dispatcher can make a call for service. Those events not requiring a full team activation will be processed as a one-on-one call for service with a Team Peer.
Please have a contact number ready for us, so that we can obtain as much information as possible on call-back. Please leave a clear voicemail with a name and number, so that we can return your call.
There will always be a minimum of 2 contact names and numbers posted at a time. Please contact the #1 name first, and if there is not a timely reply, then call #2. Please keep in mind that some Comm Centers do not allow cell phone usage on duty, so there may be an unforseen time delay. Please keep trying to reach one of the "on call" persons. If you are not able to reach the "on call" person(s) in a timely manner, please call Renee Meador, Buster Brown, Emily Totten, or Mary Jones from the list(s) below.
Our mission is to provide this service to Dispatchers and Comm Center personnel in the most efficient manner possible, and we intend to do just that.
