Charlottesville-UVA-Albemarle County Emergency Communications Center

At its November, 2009 conference in Salt Lake City, Utah the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA) recognized the Charlottesville-UVA-Albemarle County Emergency Communications Center as having achieved its bid for re-accreditation.

Assessors verified compliance in meeting or exceeding the 218 standards for Public Safety Communications Accreditation during the onsite August 29th – September 2, 2009 by examining all aspects of the Charlottesville/UVA/Albemarle County Emergency Communications Center including policies, procedures, management, operations, and support services. The team recommended that Charlottesville/UVA/Albemarle County ECC be given approval by the Commission for reaccreditation in the onsite report.

The assessors were team leader Major (Ret.) William D. Munday, retired North Carolina Highway Patrol and team member Ms. Beth A. Burton, Communications Manager with the Naperville, Illinois Police Department.

Accreditation is for three years, during which the agency must submit annual reports attesting continued compliance with those standards under which it was initially accredited.
