One local police officer has just completed a special training class with the FBI.

Harrisonburg Police Lt. Tom Hoover recently finished the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia.

The FBI picks law enforcement officials from all over the world to participate in the high-level training.

The academy has a standard curriculum, as well as elective courses, and all of it is high intensity.

"It's all graduate and undergraduate level training, so it was pretty demanding," says Hoover. "They would give you a lot of homework assignments, a lot of writing, a lot of report writing. The physical requirement was pretty intense, so they keep you pretty busy."

Hoover also completed the optional final test, an extremely challenging obstacle course called the "Yellow Brick Road."

Participants who finish the Road get a t-shirt and a yellow brick.
